IFT Tradeshow Recap

South Florida ingredient company Sweet Additions, maker of natural and organic sweeteners for the food and beverage industry, just returned from the Institute of Food Technologies Tradeshowin Chicago where we conducted a number of back-to-back pre-show meetings and experienced more qualified visits to our booth than ever before. Our Natural and Organic Buyers Breakfast tabletop exhibit on Day 2 also drew a number of food scienceprofessionals from around the globe. These purchasing and R&D colleagues converged on the show in an effort to inspire and transform collective scientific knowledge into innovative solutions for the benefit of all people around the world. Sweet Additions was barraged throughout the event with questions about our rice-based protein alternatives and alternative nutritive sweeteners to corn syrup and chemical sweeteners, and there was endless discussion about breaking boundaries and redefining our industry and the future of food as a whole. Food and drink manufacturing scientists were particularly interested in our propriety enzyme technology with which we can modify our syrup sugar profiles without reducing sweetness. Without using acids or chemicals, Sweet Additions has the ability to promote the production of glucose and lower the amount of maltose while retaining many of the functional attributes of traditional 42DE enzyme hydrolyzed syrups, and lower total sugar content by up to 40 percent. Product lines at Sweet Additions that incorporate these advances include TapiSweet and RiceSweet, which marry the benefits of low-sugar glucose syrups with natural flavors to boost the sweetness level of the syrups without adding sugar to the nutrient profile. Our Sweet Additions RicePro Brown Rice Protein, available in both Organic RiceProand non-organic RiceProformulations are also now on the radar of the industry's top healthy food and drink manufacturers. These 100% plant-based nutritive protein concentrates produced by partial enzymatic conversion of brown rice that separates the carbohydrates from the proteins yeild a gluten free ingredient with a complete amino acid profile in an odorless powder form with a bland flavor and no sweetness added. While this highly popular annual tradeshow that attracts everyone who's anyone in the healthy and organic foods arena to explore the serious business of our industry, four full days of talking shop at IFT was periodically re-energized with help from nearby exhibitors. These neighboring booths kept the crew at Sweet Additions not only laughing, but fully fueled with food and drink items they swore incorporated only healthful ingredients. We had utmost faith in our snack-serving co-exhibitors, but opted not to examine the "clean labels" of their cupcakes, ice cream bars, beer and energy shots, as tradeshow etiquette prefers never to bite the hand that feeds you. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. At Sweet Additions, we offer a wide selection of innovative starch derivatives, sweeteners and plant-based protein alternatives that provide solutions to food and beverage manufacturers seeking natural and organic ingredients that don't compromise functionality or quality.
